Position Overview
Hexagon Lavish® has an open full-time/permanent for an experienced staff scientist to work in the capacity of a Bioinformatics Researcher that hails from a firm background in computational biology coupled with an engaging focus in designing software for analyzing ecosystems and sequence alignment.
The candidate should be familiar with the Wright-Fisher model, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and the Neutral model. The candidate must also possess an understanding of scoring methods such as the blossom scoring matrix. This position will require close collaboration with other research scientists involved with constructing the D.N.A. ( Distributional Network Application ) product, working in the capacity of aligning DUBL ï [mobile app detection functionality] research with a derived understanding of how allergenic substances can be "distinguished and classified" by the DUBL ï [mobile app].
The candidate will be tasked with providing the bioinformatics development for the DUBL ï software and the essential Distributional Network Application categories of the informational interpretation scientific software. The experienced staff scientist, working in the capacity of a Bioinformatics Researcher , will also be tasked with "leading" the bioinformatic-research for the distinction and classification functionality for the "mobile application".
The successful candidate will have acquired advanced knowledge of generation and analysis of sequence data; have extensive knowledge of coding languages for data mining and the development of tools, such as R, Python, Java and SQL; experience with large multi-dimensional data sets; some knowledge and experience with genetic statistics analytical methods; and the ability to identify, propose and develop a new form of technology and methodology to bioinformatics research.
- This position requires either a Master's or a Doctorate degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Physics or relative STEM-level major

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and carry out bioinformatics analysis using languages such as Shell, Python, and R, and use HPC platforms in a Linux/cloud-based environments
- Develop machine-learning and statistical frameworks to get insights from large sequencing data sets and work on generative models to optimize and generate novel biological sequences with desired properties
- Work with other bioinformaticians to enhance existing pipelines, share methodologies, and develop standard processes
- Manage bioinformatics project and provide technical support to customers Integrate statistical analysis to project design and data interpretations
- Ensure resource availability and allocation, as well as project's on-time delivery
- Troubleshoot computational methods and analyses
- Transform preliminary analysis scripts into robust and efficient code
- Perform large-scale projects and small custom tasks that span many classes of analysis problems Interpretation of biological and/or translational relevance of analytical results
- Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related databases
- Participate as directed in experiment design and preparation
- Develop and enhance algorithms for next-generation sequencing and third-generation sequencing
- Characterize and model empirical next-generation sequencing and third-generation sequencing data requirements
- Develop new research methods using clinical and real-world data to advance knowledge
- Perform maintenance of software and runtime environments: effective installation, configuration and troubleshooting of open-source and commercial scientific applications and toolsets
- Analyzes result of server monitoring and implement changes to improve performance, processing and utilization
- Demonstrates experience with generalized linear mixed models, experimental design, statistical graphs and programming
CHARACTER PROFILE:

- Experience in a cluster computing setting and be familiar with common bioinformatics tools

- Demonstrable ability to provide scientific critique of ideas, an interpretation of results and direction of research projects related to bioinformatics research
- Organized and methodical, yet flexible in adjusting priorities and the will to take risks to accomplish goals
- Assist other research scientists in the preparation of grant proposals, presentations, project progress and end results
- Master's or Ph.D in the disciplines of Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics or Computational Biology/Chemistry with a minimum of five years of experience in an industrial research capacity
