This is a permanent full-time role in the Northern WA Goldfields, on an 8 days 6 days, 4 days on, and 3 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from the local community.

We are looking for a senior underground geotechnical engineer who is capable of running the geotechnical and backfill aspects of a mine with input from other seniors. Someone who has strong skills and will further develop their understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and threats.

As a senior, you will still be

  • Engaged with the daily production team, ensuring geotechnical related input into development plans, blasting plans, documentation of inspections and data collection, geotechnical monitoring, stability analysis, recommendations, and QAQC;
  • Continually develop the GCMP & the SHMP;
  • Relevant to ground control, provide a geotechnical service to the mine through liaising with partners to promote full statutory compliance with mining regulations, legislation, and company safety objectives;
  • Ensure that completion & distribution of milestone reporting of QAQC, Hazard maps, and monitoring reports;
  • Optimise the paste backfill systems through solid technical understanding and input;
  • Actively identifying and managing geotechnical risks and the development of systems to monitor and manage these;
  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions and, through operational analysis of opportunities, strategic implementations of new technologies and systems;
  • Develop and support an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns;
  • Updating and reporting on the rock fall, rock mass deformation monitoring, and seismic databases.



We are looking for someone with post grad geomechanics qualifications built on a related mining degree, with significant exposure to hard rock underground mining.
