General Description of Role and Responsibilities:
- Conduct all activities safely, in accordance with safety rules and policies, to prevent harm to self and others.
- Company compliance with the requirements of environmental permits, licenses, and regulations, focusing on monitoring, record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Effectively communicate with site personnel regarding regulatory obligations. Complete permitting activities in a timely manner by soliciting and gathering necessary information from affected operational departments, and submitting complete applications, to minimize permitting delays and ensure that company operations and projects are not hindered.
- Develop and maintain rapport with regulators and government agencies to foster a working relationship that minimizes adversarial actions, enforcement actions and penalties.
- Coordinate and manage environmental projects, including contractor and consultant activities.
- Conduct regular inspections, in accordance with the Environmental Department procedures, of company operations to ensure regulatory compliance.

- Monitor proposed environmental regulatory changes and with an eye to their effect on operations and demands on resources (personnel, financial).
- Inform the Manager, Environmental Department, immediately of any compliance or permitting issues that may affect the company.
- Ensure that departmental and company goals are achieved by participating in short and long-range planning activities.
- As a member of the department, provide environmental awareness training to site employees. Comply with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
- Meet or exceed the performance expectations established by management.
- Perform other functions as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- A bachelors degree in environmental engineering (preferred) or Civil Engineering.
- Five years work experience in the environmental industry preferred.
- Strong technical and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, regulators and governmental agencies.
- Able to describe environmental regulatory requirements to a diverse workforce.
- Able to work independently to manage workload and prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong technical engineering knowledge.
- Good understanding of low-carbon building solutions.
- Design skills and product assessment skills.
- Good report writing skills
