General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

  • Works jointly with the contractor to coordinate the activities and studies to be developed to fulfill the electrical requirements of the Passenger terminal building in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Reports to the Project Manager and coordinates with other disciplines and Contractor Engineers & designers.
  • Executes assigned work by the Project Execution Plan and applicable Project Procedures and
  • Standards. Ensures that the work follows applicable HSE, Quality standards, and procedures always.
  • Leads a team of direct and indirect reports to deliver projects safely according to the agreed scope, quality, and schedule.
  • Manages Procurement activities by the Contractor and internal departments by the agreed scope of work of the project.
  • Understands the technical content of Electrical Engineering documents. Coordinates reviews of the documents and ensures compliance with the overall objectives of the project and the needs of the business.
  • Leads the planning and execution of the field work in conjunction with the Construction Management, Quality Management, and HSE teams as well as Contractors and Vendors.
  • Ensures that the contractors are progressing within the agreed manhour and by the project schedule. Reports any deviations and applies agreed corrective actions where required.
  • Provides input to the project controls team for cost and schedule reporting.
  • The job involves a broad knowledge of Electrical Engineering - ETAP, PSSE and PSCAD Studies, PSA/PMS (Power System Automation/Power management system), SA Grid Code.
  • Must have managed electrical projects related to buildings of large buildings.
  • Must have familiarity and knowledge of changing voltage in the building, along with equipment installations.
  • Must be able to review electrical design and calculation if any issues arise at the site.
  • Must conduct daily inspections for electrical works.
  • Review the Electrical shop drawings, material submittals, pre-qualifications, and technical calculations alongside method statements, ITPs, and Quality Checklists for acceptance.
  • Informs themselves of the relevant Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Policies, Manuals, and Procedures within Hill International and ensures continued compliance with these requirements while employed by Hill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in Electrical Project Management.
  • Proficient with Construction & Project Management and Business processes including planning, contract management and procurement, Management of Change, Control of Work, Quality Management Systems, and EHS management systems.
  • Experience in medium/large Electrical projects during design, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning & testing, and start-up.
  • Must have strong leadership and multi-disciplinary coordination skills, and be able to plan work logically.
  • Hardworking, proactive, and possesses a teamwork attitude with leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Good English communication skills. Competent in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
