Key Responsibilities:

1. Daily Operational Management:

Oversee day-to-day farm operations, ensuring smooth and efficient management of all farming activities.

Supervise and coordinate work on the farm to ensure all activities are completed on schedule and to the highest standards.

2. Cattle Herd Management:

Manage and care for the beef cattle herd, ensuring the proper feeding, health, and general well-being of the animals.

Monitor herd growth and performance, implementing strategies to improve cattle productivity.

3. Crop Production:

Supervise the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of maize and other crops under irrigation.

Ensure optimal land and crop management practices are implemented to maximize yields and maintain soil health.

4. Equipment Maintenance:

Perform general maintenance on farm equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in good working order.

Ensure all equipment is regularly serviced and maintained to minimize downtime.

5. Fire Management & Prevention:

Implement fire prevention strategies and ensure fire safety measures are in place across the farm.

Actively monitor and manage potential fire risks, ensuring all staff are trained in fire safety procedures.

6. Additional Duties:

Carry out other tasks as requested by management, including overseeing seasonal farm projects or operational improvements.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

5 years experience in farm management or a similar farming role.

Strong background in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of farm equipment.

Experience with beef cattle herd management and crop production (particularly maize and irrigated pastures).

Strong knowledge of fire management and prevention on farms.

National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualifications (NQF Level 4).

Valid RSA drivers license and own transport.
