Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric ICU Consultant to join our elite medical team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in managing critically ill pediatric patients with a focus on a specific sub-specialty (e.g., Cardiac, Neuro-critical care, or Transplant). The appointee will provide clinical leadership, ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with international standards (JCI/CBAHI), and contribute to the academic and administrative growth of the unit.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Excellence:
- Manage complex and critically ill pediatric patients with a high degree of autonomy.
- Conduct daily multidisciplinary rounds to review and modify patient management plans.
- Perform advanced critical care procedures (e.g., intubation, central line insertion, hemodynamic monitoring, management of mechanical ventilation/ECMO).
- Provide specialized care related to the specific sub-specialty (e.g., post-operative cardiac care, neuro-protection protocols, or transplant management).
2. Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise, mentor, and teach Residents, Registrars, and Fellows.
- Lead the rapid response team and manage pediatric cardiac arrest situations (Code Blue).
- Provide expert consultation to other departments regarding critically ill children.
3. Quality & Patient Safety:
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and clinical practice guidelines.
- Participate actively in Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) meetings and Quality Improvement committees.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
4. Communication & Education:
- Maintain effective and compassionate communication with patients' families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plans.
- Participate in the department's educational activities, research projects, and Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MD) from a recognized university.
- Board Certification:
- Board Certification in Pediatrics (Saudi Board, American Board, Canadian Royal College, UK CCT, or equivalent).
- Fellowship: Certified Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
- Sub-specialty: Additional fellowship or extensive certified training in a sub-specialty (e.g., Pediatric Cardiac ICU) is highly preferred/mandatory.
- Licensure: Valid professional registration/classification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as a "Consultant".
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Consultant in a Tertiary Care Hospital or Academic Medical Center.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage crises under high pressure.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken); Arabic is an advantage.
- Proficiency in working within a multicultural, multidisciplinary team.
- Strong decision-making skills and emotional intelligence.
