HireNow Staffing is conducting a highly selective search on behalf of a premier Am Law 50 firm seeking a seasoned Specialist Paralegal to support its International Trade Commission (ITC) and Intellectual Property Litigation practice. This role is designed for a paralegal who brings deep ITC expertise, exceptional litigation judgment, and the ability to operate at an elite level on complex, high stakes matter.
Candidates must demonstrate long-term career stability, prior experience at an Am Law 100/200 or top-tier regional firm, and the technical sophistication required to support fast-moving ITC proceedings.
The Opportunity
This position sits at the center of some of the most demanding and time-sensitive IP matters in the country. The Specialist Paralegal will work closely with attorneys handling complex ITC investigations, district court litigation, and related agency proceedings—where precision, speed, and procedural mastery are critical.
The role requires both independent ownership of complex litigation tasks and seamless collaboration within large, multidisciplinary case teams. Performance expectations are high, and the work is intellectually rigorous, deadline-driven, and impactful.
Role Overview
  • Meet a billable hour target of 1,725 hours (unless otherwise specified)
  • Perform work efficiently to support client billing, cost recovery, and matter profitability
  • Operate under attorney supervision while independently managing sophisticated litigation support responsibilities
  • Maintain exceptional standards for accuracy, responsiveness, and discretion
Key Responsibilities
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform the following at an advanced level to be considered for interview:
  • Coordinate, organize, prepare, and interpret complex legal documents related to ITC investigations and IP litigation
  • Build, maintain, and manage case databases, document repositories, and litigation files
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and exhibits with courts and agencies, including the International Trade Commission
  • Organize, review, and manage large-scale discovery productions and trial exhibits
  • Conduct e-discovery searches and manage document review using platforms such as Relativity
  • Support attorneys with deposition preparation, including exhibit compilation and witness materials
  • Perform factual and legal research using internal systems and external databases
  • Support trial preparation, attend trials and agency hearings, and provide in-court and on-site assistance
  • Coordinate trial logistics, including remote and in-person setups, vendor management, and travel arrangements
  • Partner with internal teams and outside vendors; train and direct junior paralegals and litigation support staff
  • Collaborate across firm departments to streamline workflows and improve litigation processes
  • Work overtime and travel as required; manage additional projects as assigned
Core Proficiencies
  • Expert preparation of:
    • Motions in limine
    • Jury instructions and verdict forms
    • Witness lists, exhibit lists, and trial binders
  • Extensive trial experience, including ITC proceedings (required)
  • Advanced to expert proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Web-based conferencing and collaboration tools
    • Transcript management software (LiveNote)
    • E-discovery and litigation support platforms
  • Advanced proficiency with LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, EDIS, and USPTO systems
  • Expert understanding of IP litigation procedures, court and agency rules, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Strong command of timekeeping, expense reporting, and legal billing practices
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet all of the following to be considered:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of litigation paralegal experience
  • 7+ years of IP litigation experience, including substantial ITC matters
  • Significant trial and arbitration experience
  • Demonstrated career longevity and experience at an Am Law 100/200 or top regional firm
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Emphasized)
Candidates meeting these criteria will receive priority consideration.
  • Appellate practice experience
  • Deep familiarity with the procedural pace and evidentiary demands of ITC investigations
  • Experience supporting simultaneous, parallel proceedings
  • Ability to anticipate attorney needs and proactively manage case workflows
  • Mentorship experience with junior paralegals or litigation support staff
