About the Role
HireNow Staffing is working with a respected Texas-based engineering firm seeking a Senior Mechanical or Electrical PE with proven experience in commercial building design think hospitals, universities, stadiums, and mid/high-rise buildings. This is a high-impact, leadership-level opportunity for a hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced project environments and wants to mentor junior staff while staying deeply involved in design execution.
This is not an oil & gas or industrial role. We are looking for engineering professionals with strong portfolios in healthcare, education, civic, and large-scale commercial construction projects.
What You'll Do
As a Senior PE, you will lead mechanical or electrical design projects from concept to construction documents, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with clients to deliver innovative, code-compliant systems.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Oversee and guide the mechanical or electrical design process across multiple active commercial projects

Develop and review design documents to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with internal standards

Lead coordination efforts with internal engineering disciplines and external consultants (architects, structural, etc.)

Participate in client meetings and contribute to relationship-building efforts to foster repeat business

Evaluate and manage mechanical/electrical design budgets and recommend adjustments as needed

Provide mentorship to junior staff and collaborate on manpower planning with project managers
-
Conduct peer reviews and participate in in-house QA/QC processes ahead of key deliverables
-
Stay current through a minimum of 10 hours of annual continuing education, which may include in-house technical training or approved external courses
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas (or eligible to transfer)

7+ years of progressive experience designing commercial MEP systems (K-12, higher ed, hospitals, municipal, or stadiums preferred)
-
Strong ability to produce and review mechanical or electrical design drawings and documentation

Skilled communicator with the ability to interface directly with clients and project stakeholders
-
Proficient in collaborating across engineering disciplines, architectural partners, and contractors
-
Comfortable working full-time in-office as part of a collaborative project team
Nice-to-Have:

Familiarity with Texas building codes and permitting processes

Experience with Revit and AutoCAD MEP workflows

Prior involvement in large-scale commercial projects ($50M+ budgets)
