About our client
An emerging "Native AI" enterprise operations firm is currently scaling its high-velocity engineering team to pioneer the field of Workflow Intelligence. Operating at the intersection of deep system integration and advanced machine learning, the company builds mission-critical infrastructure that provides organizations with unprecedented visibility into internal processes to optimize human capital and automate complex workstreams. As they approach a major global launch in early 2026, this engineering-heavy startup is seeking founding-level talent dedicated to clean architecture and solving non-trivial technical challenges within a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.
About the Role
As the Lead macOS Engineer, you will own one of the most technically demanding and strategically critical parts of the platform: building native macOS components that capture workflow signals, integrate deeply with system-level APIs, and operate reliably at scale in enterprise environments. This is a founding-level role where you’ll architect core macOS services, drive decisions around frameworks, security, and performance, and collaborate closely with backend and ML teams to transform raw system activity into intelligent insights. If you excel at low-level macOS development, enjoy solving hard problems around observability and system integration, and want to shape the foundation of a high-velocity AI product, this role will put you at the center of the company's technical trajectory.
What you’ll do
Lead macOS app development, architecture, performance, deployment, and long-term scalability.
Own the quality bar: profiling, debugging, optimizing for speed and stability.
Ensure compatibility across managed environments, including MDM and restricted setups.
Collaborate closely with backend and data teams to integrate APIs and improve system reliability.
Guide and mentor team members and other developers, helping elevate the overall engineering craft.
Build for the edge cases, from sandboxing and permissions to enterprise deployments.
Contribute to our CI/CD and testing practices, ensuring smooth builds and updates.
Who you are
Expert in Swift and macOS app development, with a deep grasp of Apple frameworks, security, and system design.
Proven experience in profiling, debugging, and performance optimization across varied Mac environments.
Comfortable working in managed device contexts (MDM), understanding sandboxing, permissions, and deployment constraints.
Familiar with API integrations, backend collaboration, and maintaining reliable interfaces.
A stickler for detail, you notice inconsistencies others miss and care deeply about polish.
Experience with SwiftUI and Catalyst for cross-platform work is a strong plus.
Bonus points
Knowledge of Django REST Framework or similar backend stacks.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated macOS testing.
Experience in security-focused or enterprise-managed environments.
Familiarity with enterprise compliance and privacy standards.
Why join
You’ll own a critical part of the core product, the Mac app that powers everything else. You’ll work directly with the founders, influence the product roadmap, and shape the engineering culture. This is a role for builders who love technical depth and product impact.
