About the job Data Engineer
The MarTech Engineer will support the Data Engineering team at Acorns, embedded with Marketing, to build and maintain custom MarTech tooling for initiatives like LTV modeling, campaign attribution, and customer retargeting. Its a mid-level offshore contractor role with a focus on greenfield development, working closely with senior engineer David Gray, under hiring manager Shish. Hard Requirements (Technical)
- CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, debugging, version control).
- Python development (REST APIs, ETL/data transformation workflows).
- Databricks (data ingestion, Delta tables, Spark operations).
- API integration (building, testing, consuming APIs; 3rd-party integrations such as Adjust, Braze, Segment, Amplitude).
- Event pipelines (collection, properties, schemas).
Nice-to-Have Technical Skills:
- Lightweight Slack integrations/bots.
- UI/dashboard development.
- Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks.
Soft Skills & Success Drivers
- Strong communication/documentation to bridge technical and marketing requirements.
- Proactive problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to deliver POCs quickly.
- Collaboration with Marketing, Growth, and Analytics teams.
- Ability to ramp quickly on MarTech context and new tools.
Success Metrics
- Near-term success = fast ramp-up, learning Martech tools/workflows, and delivering early POCs.
- Long-term success = building scalable pipelines and integrations that directly support marketing initiatives.
