About the Position
Acorns is seeking experienced ServiceNow contractors with strong application development and configuration expertise to drive the growth of our ServiceNow platform implementation. This role prioritizes custom application development, workflow automation, and business process configuration while maintaining essential platform administration capabilities to support our rapid growth trajectory.
Current Implementation Status
- Platform: ServiceNow Yokohama-release is in production
- Implemented Modules: Major Incident Management, Problem Management/Root Cause Analysis, basic CMDB, Change Management (near deployment)
- Active Integrations: AWS, GCP , Datadog, GitHub, Bitbucket, Harness
- Planned 2026 Implementations:
- Jira JSM to ServiceNow Service Desk migration
- FSO Pro+ for Banking Operations and Visa dispute management
- Financial Operations workflows
- Minimal Salesforce Integration for Major Incident Management
- Additional business applications/requirements as necessary
What You'll Do
Application Configuration & Development (65%)
- Design, configure, and customize ITSM, ITOM, CSM, FSO Pro+, and banking operations modules
- Configure applications and workflows using ServiceNow's low-code/no-code capabilities
- Configure workflow automation using Flow Designer, Playbooks, and Process Automation
- Create and enhance business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and advanced scripting solutions
- Configure service catalogs, forms, knowledge bases, and user interfaces following UX best practices
- Extend and improve CMDB implementation with automated discovery and data integrity management
- Build comprehensive reporting solutions, dashboards, and analytics to support business intelligence
- Develop and maintain integrations with third-party systems using Integration Hub and REST/SOAP or other appropriate APIs
Platform Administration & Governance (25%)
- Maintain development, test, and production ServiceNow instances following SDLC best practices
- Execute ServiceNow patches, updates, and semi-annual upgrades with minimal business disruption
- Implement change management processes and environment synchronization standard operating procedures
- Ensure platform security, performance monitoring, and availability standards
- Coordinate with ServiceNow Support for technical issues and platform optimization
Training & Documentation (10%)
- Develop training materials and assist with the delivery of user education sessions for new applications
- Create comprehensive documentation for custom applications, configurations, and workflows
- Provide knowledge transfer sessions to internal teams and stakeholders
About You:
Technical Expertise
- Minimum 7+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience with a focus on application configuration and enablement
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification required
- Additional preferred certifications: CSA, ITSM Implementation Specialist, FSO certification
- Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST/SOAP APIs, and ServiceNow scripting
- Demonstrated expertise in Flow Designer, Playbooks, Process Automation Designer, and workflow optimization
- Strong experience with custom table creation, field configuration, and database design
- Proven track record with FSO Pro+, ITSM, CSM, CMDB, Integration Hub, banking operations modules, and financial services workflows
Application Development Experience
- Experience building/configuring ServiceNow applications from requirements to deployment
- Proficiency with ServiceNow Studio, Application Portfolio Management, and version control
- Strong background in business process analysis and workflow design
- Experience with complex integrations, data migrations, and system connectivity
- Knowledge of UI/UX design principles for ServiceNow interfaces and portals
Business Domain Knowledge
- Background in financial services operations, banking, or regulated industries preferred
- Experience with ITIL v4 frameworks and IT service management processes
- Understanding of change management, incident management, and service desk operations
- Knowledge of compliance requirements and data governance practices
Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on technical solution design
- Excellent communication skills for requirements gathering and stakeholder management
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Experience mentoring junior developers and conducting technical knowledge transfer
Preferred Additional Skills
- ServiceNow Performance Analytics, Predictive Intelligence, and advanced reporting
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and project management
- Knowledge of mobile application development and ServiceNow Mobile capabilities
- Background in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration
