About the Role
We are seeking a Tech Lead to play a hands-on leadership role within a fast-moving engineering team. This individual will be responsible for delivering high-quality software while providing day-to-day technical guidance and oversight to a small team of engineers. The role combines strong individual contribution with leadership responsibilities, ensuring projects are executed effectively and engineering standards are consistently upheld.
This is a temporary, full-time position expected to run through December 31, 2026, supporting critical product initiatives during a period of sustained growth.
What You'll Do
  • Design and implement scalable, high-quality components and services that align with team and company goals.
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable applications and servicesProvide technical direction and mentorship to a team of three engineers, ensuring high-quality execution and consistent engineering practices
  • Participate actively in hands-on development, contributing to architecture, implementation, and code reviews
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and leadership teams to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions
  • Identify and resolve technical risks, performance issues, and system bottlenecks
  • Maintain strong development velocity while ensuring code quality, maintainability, and system reliabilitySupport planning, estimation, and prioritization of engineering work
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable team environment focused on delivery and continuous improvement
  • Take ownership of project design and architecture, ensuring clear technical direction, including edge case analysis and system behavior definition
  • Ensure the team executes against well-defined technical standards and best practices, actively guiding how services should be built and operate in production
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader, not just a coordinator or project manager
About You:
  • Proven experience operating in a Lead role in a product-driven environment, leading a small engineering team while staying actively involved in implementation
  • Comfortable balancing technical leadership with hands-on experience in backend development
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong knowledge of modern technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, AWS (SNS/SQS), Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor engineers while remaining deeply technical
  • Experience owning system design and delivery for production systems
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems design
  • Ability to identify edge cases and design systems with production reliability in mind
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to seek diverse perspectives, challenge assumptions, and provide constructive feedback. 
  • Comfortable communicating technical concepts clearly, adapting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience consistently meeting sprint and quarterly commitments while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with modern development workflows and AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude AI) to enhance engineering productivity
