About our client
An emerging "Native AI" enterprise operations firm is currently scaling its high-velocity engineering team to pioneer the field of Workflow Intelligence. Operating at the intersection of deep system integration and advanced machine learning, the company builds mission-critical infrastructure that provides organizations with unprecedented visibility into internal processes to optimize human capital and automate complex workstreams. As they approach a major global launch in early 2026, this engineering-heavy startup is seeking founding-level talent dedicated to clean architecture and solving non-trivial technical challenges within a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.
About the Role
We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer to serve as the architect of the intelligence layer. As we scale, the volume and complexity of our data continue to grow; in this role, you will be responsible for designing and operating the systems that transform raw data into actionable intelligence. You will sit at the intersection of scale, performance, and strategy, building the backbone that powers our analytics, workflow insights, and economic modeling.
What You’ll Do
Architect Data Systems: Design, implement, and maintain a scalable data warehouse (utilizing BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar) to support our growing data needs.
Build ETL Pipelines: Develop and optimize robust ETL pipelines to ingest data from various APIs and internal systems, ensuring seamless data flow.
Model Datasets: Manage and model datasets to provide the foundation for flexible product features and deep-dive analytics.
Optimize Performance: Collaborate closely with the engineering team to enhance data mining capabilities and overall analytics performance.
Enable Visualization: Build and maintain dashboards and visualization tools (such as Metabase, Tableau, or Power BI) to deliver insights to both internal teams and external clients.
Ensure Operational Excellence: Manage data reliability, cost efficiency, and performance optimization across all environments.
Drive Real-Time Insights: Implement event-based pipelines to facilitate real-time reporting and analytics.
Govern & Secure: Contribute to and uphold best practices regarding data governance, privacy, and security to protect our users and their data.
About You
You are a technical builder who thrives at the intersection of scale and precision. You don't just build systems for the sake of complexity; you build them to be used. You are comfortable navigating the trade-offs between cost and performance, and you are deeply curious about how data translates into real-world decisions and automation.
Expertise in Data Architecture: Proven experience in designing data warehouse architectures and building scalable analytics infrastructure.
Master of SQL & Modeling: Strong proficiency with SQL, data modeling, and the optimization of pipeline performance.
ETL Specialist: Hands-on experience with ETL tools, data ingestion frameworks, and managing cloud-based data operations.
Pragmatic Problem Solver: Ability to balance technical depth with practical impact, ensuring the systems you build are reliable and user-focused.
Strategic Thinker: Comfortable managing the balance between scalability, system complexity, and operational costs.
Analytical Mindset: A genuine interest in how data-driven insights can drive workflow intelligence and economic modeling.
Bonus Points:
Proficiency in Python for data wrangling and advanced analytics.
Familiarity with AI/ML-driven analytics or predictive modeling.
Exposure to real-time or streaming data architectures.
Knowledge of data governance, compliance standards, and secure cloud operations.
