The Role

We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead core backend development. You'll design and scale the systems that power our iOS, Android, and Web applications, including:

• Integrations with cryptocurrency wallets and banking service providers.

• Critical services for authentication, ledgering, and payment rails.

• Building a secure and highly reliable platform for real-money transactions at international scale.

Our early stack will likely be a Python (FastAPI/Pydantic) monolith with Postgres and Redis on AWS, with opportunities to introduce Go and/or Rust for services requiring higher performance or concurrency.

This role is critical You'll work directly with technical founders to define engineering standards, shape architecture, and build a high-performance backend from the ground up. As we scale, this role has the potential to evolve into a backend lead or broader engineering leadership role.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and shipping web applications in Python, Go, or Rust.

• Strong backend expertise across Postgres, Redis, AWS (or similar).

• Proven ability to design secure, reliable, and performant systems at scale.

Bonus Points

• Experience in financial technology or payments.

• Full-stack engineering skills and flexibility to contribute across the stack.

• Strong design instincts and product-oriented thinking.
