Position Overview:

The role involves leading a design team, managing projects from start to finish, and ensuring that all work meets client and agency standards. This person will also need to have a strong business development focus, bringing their own book of business to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and Client Relations:

Plan and execute designs that exceed client expectations.

Interface directly with clients and manage the approval process with public agencies.

2. Business Development:

Identify new work opportunities and actively pursue leads.

Bring a book of business to the organization.

3. Administrative and Financial Tasks:

Oversee invoicing, budget monitoring, proposals, change orders, and team timecard approvals.

4. Project Management:

Develop schedules and supervise the workflow of the design team.

Supervise the preparation of plans, reports, cost estimates, and other client deliverables.

Ensure design quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with standards.

Coordinate with outside consultants and internal departments.

Conduct site visits during construction to ensure conformity with plans and resolve issues.

5. Team Management:

Supervise and mentor a team of 1-5 employees.

Conduct staff reviews, provide training, and manage team performance.

6. Client and Agency Interaction:

Represent the company in meetings with clients and agencies.

Handle plan processing for approvals and resolve design problems with agencies.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years of design experience.

At least 3 years of experience leading a team and managing projects.

EIT certification required, with PE license or the ability to obtain it within two years.

Skills:

Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is preferred.

Must occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Typically, quiet with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
