IT/OT Integration Engineer

Our client is an international tech consulting company with +25 years of experience offering solutions to support companies' businesses and digital transformation.

In this position, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring a reliable and streamlined integration of edge technologies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys optimizing operational processes, increasing automation, and maintaining stable, high-performance systems.

(This position is hybrid in Lisbon, Coimbra or Castelo Branco)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy and manage industrial connectivity platforms like Matrikon and Kepware to enable stable and reliable integration.
• Automate installation and configuration routines to ensure uniformity and efficiency in solution rollout.
• Act as a consultant for the Edge environment, taking end-to-end ownership of performance, user adoption, and service quality.
• Continuously research and introduce improvements in edge computing, focusing on scalability, availability, and operational effectiveness.

Requirements:

• 10 years of experience in IT or OT environments related to automation.

• Educational background in IT (MBO or HBO level).

• Basic understanding of operational technology protocols and architectures, such as Modbus and OPC DA/UA.
• Knowledge of control systems (SCADA, DCS) and industrial communication networks.

Preferred IT Knowledge:

• Basic experience with Windows administration and infrastructure concepts (servers, databases).
• Familiar with integration approaches using REST APIs and protocols like MQTT and AMQP.

• Understanding of data models and formats, such as ISA-88 and JSON.

• Programming knowledge in one or more of the following: Node.js, Python, or Java, with a strong motivation to deepen expertise.

• Fundamental knowledge of networking.

• Exposure to cloud platforms, especially AWS and its managed services.

• Experience with infrastructure scripting and container-based deployments is a plus.

• Basic insight into data analytics.

• Conceptual knowledge of methodologies like ITIL, Agile, and Scrum.
