Job Summary

Coating Performance Specialist is responsible with the management of hull protective coatings for the entire fleet, both as part of the newbuilding program or as part of continuous maintenance program of the existing assets

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing the Material Protection section of the Building Specifications and for executing related negotiations.
  • Responsible for performing Newbuilding program plan approval, including shipyard visits and negotiations.
  • Responsible for reviewing and/or issuing Dry-dock paint specifications in liaison with selected vendors.
  • Responsible for maintaining the records of the UWI/UWC/PP, etc. reports and for ensuring correct data is entered in the database feed of the Coating Performance dashboard.
  • Responsible for reviewing those reports and for providing advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for maintaining the functionality of Coating Performance dashboards and for issuing reports on request.
  • Responsible with performing coating issues investigation and obtaining conclusive resolution.
  • Responsible for attending and providing surveying support for dry-docks when needed.
  • Responsible for providing expert support to new building supervision teams, including visiting shipyards, understanding production workflows and conceiving procedures for local site teams to follow.

Requirements

Chemical Engineering (Industrial Chemistry) degree.

  • Minimum NACE (AMPP) II and FROSIO III level of certification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in shipbuilding programs or projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, good conflict resolution skills and work well within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style.
  • Shipboard work experience would be an asset.
  • International travel may be required and may be on short notice.
  • Will be required to carry a mobile phone and check regularly outside of office hours.
  • Must maintain home internet connection for work outside of office hours.
  • Occasional overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences.
