Position overview

The General Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the operations of the oil distribution business in South China region for our Client. This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the oil industry, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive business growth while ensuring operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • 1) Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, driving them towards achieving business objectives. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to provide strategic direction.
  • 2) Operations Management: Proven experience in managing operations, including supply chain, logistics, and inventory control. Ability to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • 3) Business Development: Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities, establish strategic partnerships, and expand the company's market presence in the Southern China region.
  • 4) Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make informed business decisions.
  • 5) Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and building long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders. Ability to understand customer needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • 6) Communication and Influencing: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, chemistry, engineering or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in the lubricant industry, preferably in a distribution or operations role.
  • Strong knowledge of the lubricant industry, including supply chain management, logistics, and distribution operations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing operations and driving business growth in a competitive market.
  • Familiarity with the Southern China market and understanding of its unique dynamics and challenges.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin (both written and spoken) is essential, Cantonese would be a plus.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and environmental standards in the oil industry.
  • Willingness to travel within the Southern China region and occasionally internationally.
