Head of Risk Management (Banking)

A fast-growing China-based Bank with its Group Company listed in Hong Kong is looking for a high-calibre Head of Risk Management, overseeing the banks Risk Management and Compliance functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the Banks Risk Management and Compliance functions, including Operational Risk & Legal, Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance
  • Lead the department on generating a comprehensive and up to date risk management framework, risk management policies and procedure.
  • Elevate risk awareness across all departments and ensuring effective communication with Chief Officers on the banks risk tolerance and exercise sufficient control on risk exposure. Lead on the preparation of risk-related materials and exercise final review for board & risk committee meetings,
  • Report to the Chief Risk Officer on key issues on operations of the Risk Management Department. Recommend remediations and solutions to the bank.
  • Oversee and manage the risk control processes and structure to ensure they are effective and up to date according to regulatory guidelines
  • Ensure all relevant risks of the Bank are identified, well understood, adequately measured, assessed, and reported, and that the overall risk profile is consistent with the risk appetite and culture of the Bank
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to understand the related business products, systems and working process to identify potential risks in different kinds of risk areas

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in risk management, with at least 7 years at management level in the banking industry
  • University graduate or above in Risk Management, Law, Finance and Accounting or related discipline
  • Extensive knowledge of HKMA regulatory rules and guidelines and is abreast with the latest risk management compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in working with regulatory or law enforcement authorities would be preferable.
  • Qualifications in law, accounting, commerce/business or related disciplines; recognized professional qualifications incl. CAMS/CAMLP, CFE or equivalent qualifications preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, people management and communication skills
  • Fluent written and spoken Cantonese, Mandarin and English language skills preferred.
