THE JOB

Reporting to the Athlete Affairs Manager, the Assistant Athlete Affairs Manager will be responsible for the following major duties:

  • Assist the Athlete Affairs Manager in planning, developing and overseeing the administration and development of the HKSI Athlete Hostel and professional lifestyle and developmental needs of resident athletes;
  • Oversee and implement the hostel application exercise, develop hostel handbook, review hostel rules and regulations and hostel management system;
  • Develop and deliver athletes care programme and activities for the resident athletes to ensure the holistic needs of athletes, particularly for the younger athletes that educational, emotional and social needs are supported;
  • Conduct individual/group consultation with athletes, their parents and coaches and to facilitate athletes' life skills and problem solving ability and their support system linkage for their professional and balanced development;
  • Provide assessment/intervention for ad hoc cases requiring counselling guidance services and prepare case reports and monitor the progress; and
  • Supervise a team of wardens and coordinate with other supporting departments for the orderly management and delivery of the hostel services and athlete care programmes;
  • Provide personalized guidance and advice to athletes to encourage and facilitate their dual career aspirations through the successful balance of sporting and non-sporting;
  • Perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by senior staff.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree in social science/education or related discipline;
  • A minimum of 6 years' working experience in social work/hostel/student services or related field; with experience of working within a high performance multidisciplinary team and supporting the personal development of individuals through coaching/mentoring preferable;
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese, confidence to present to groups as well as attention to detail. Able to speak Putonghua will be an advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as organization skills;
  • Self-motivated, be a team player able to work as a member of a multi-functional team, an empathy with working within an athlete's dual career pathway; prepared to work at irregular hours, where necessary, to support operational needs;
  • High level of computer literacy; and
  • Awareness/knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
