Prepress Graphic Designer - Production (ZR-595)
Job Description:
Horizon Tech is looking for a Production Graphic Designer to support our growing apparel and promotional products business. You will focus on preparing and adjusting artwork for production on apparel (DTF, DTG, embroidery) and on a variety of promotional items (pens, mugs, drinkware, bags, etc.).
The role is primarily production-oriented: making client artwork print-ready, rebuilding logos when needed, and creating simple, on‑brand merch/apparel concepts. You will work remotely but in close collaboration with our in-house team to ensure all artwork is accurate, on‑brand, and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adjust and prepare client logos and designs for Direct to Film (DTF), Direct to Garment (DTG), and embroidery.
- Ensure correct sizing, placement, file format, and resolution for each print/decoration method.
- Create straightforward design concepts and variations for merch and apparel (e.g., themed or event-based apparel using client logos and branding).
- Size, position, and optimize artwork for a wide range of promotional products using vendor templates and specifications.
- Clean up and refine client-provided files that are not print-ready.
- Rebuild or recreate logos when clients do not have vector or high-resolution files, while maintaining brand integrity.
- Manage multiple small projects with quick turnaround times.
- Communicate remotely with the internal team to clarify project details, priorities, and deadlines.
- Adapt to evolving design needs as the apparel and promotional product line continues to grow.
Requirements:
- Around 2+ years of experience as a Graphic Designer in a print shop, apparel decoration, promotional products, or a similar production-focused environment.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Solid understanding of vector vs. raster graphics, CMYK/RGB/spot/Pantone colors, and basic print production standards for apparel and promotional items.
- Proven ability to prepare production-ready files for print and embroidery.
- Proven ability to recreate and clean up low-quality logos into clean, scalable vector artwork.
- Ability to follow brand guidelines and client instructions accurately.
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of quality.
- Reliability with deadlines and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Clear written communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Willingness to learn and adjust as services and product offerings expand.
- Nice to have but not required: experience with promotional product vendor templates, familiarity with DTF/DTG/screen printing/embroidery workflows, and prior experience working remotely with US-based clients or teams.
