S & K Family Trust located in Cowley in Far North Queensland seeks an experienced Farm Workers to join their team.
The Role
This is for a full-time position (38 hours a week) at an annual salary set at $66000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Perform routine tasks on the Banana farm, such as cultivating and fertilising soil, and planting, irrigating and pruning, as well as shed work
Duties
- Picking fruit and looking after the integrity of the fresh product through the correct handling and learned knowledge of the product.
- Unloading fruit if you are allocated to work in the packing shed.
- Packing fruit into boxes for dispatch from the farm if your allocation for the day is the packing shed.
- The packing shed also has the following duties: stacking, stickering, labelling and light cleaning duties.
- Field work may include but is not limited to: irrigation checking, planting, weeding and plant maintenance.
- Maintaining and cleaning farming infrastructure and equipment such as sheds, fences, plant, and water supply and irrigation systems.
- Operating and maintaining general farm machinery and machinery to cultivate, fertilise, spray, and harvest the fruits.
- Planting, weeding, cleaning, and other light duties.
Requirements
- A successful completion of at least Certificate III in Horticulture
- A minimum of 1-year experience in Banana Farms
- Physical Fitness is essential due to the nature of the job
- Ability to follow instructions
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude and a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Attention to detail whilst working in a fast environment.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions
