HVAC / Mechanical Engineer — New York City (Hybrid) | $95K–$120K
The opportunity
An established company supporting construction projects is expanding its mechanical team in NYC. The portfolio is broad — hospitals and labs, K-12 and university campuses, plus commercial interiors from restaurants and retail to hospitality and workplace — so no two projects look alike. Hybrid setup, limited travel.
Are you the right fit?
You have 4+ years designing HVAC systems for buildings
You hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or related) from an ABET-accredited program
You're a licensed PE, or ready to get there within a couple of years (EIT counts in your favor)
You know your way around ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and NEC — bonus if you also handle IBC, IMC, IPC, or IECC
Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and MS Office are part of your daily toolkit
You communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and your own team
You're in the NYC area and can work a hybrid schedule
Your day-to-day
Take mechanical designs from first concept all the way through construction closeout
Calculate heating and cooling loads and run energy models (Trace 700 or similar); apply psychrometric analysis to size and select equipment
Build system design calculations and specify HVAC equipment
Manage energy code compliance (ComCheck, Title 24) and research code questions, raising design issues with the EOR, Design Lead, or PM
Survey existing buildings and document HVAC systems and site conditions in the field
Draft specifications, design documents, engineering reports, and technical studies
Align your design with architects, other disciplines, and stakeholders
See projects through construction: review submittals, answer contractor RFIs, walk punch lists
Extra credit

Pay: $95,000–$120,000 base, set according to skills, experience, and qualifications.
