About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Specialty Unit (CSU), and Dialysis. This role ensures high-quality patient care, supports nursing professional practice, manages departmental performance, and drives evidence-based initiatives to improve clinical outcomes.

The Nursing Director is accountable for staffing, quality, safety, service, and fiscal performance while mentoring nursing leaders and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Lead managers and frontline staff across ICU, CSU, and Dialysis units.

  • Oversee clinical, operational, and fiscal performance, including budgets and resource management.
  • Develop and implement unit strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, disaster preparedness, and patient safety.
  • Address patient/family concerns, physician/staff issues, and operational challenges.
  • Facilitate performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based leadership practices.
  • Support staff education, orientation, and professional development programs.
  • Promote staff engagement through shared governance and collaborative workgroup facilitation.
  • Communicate vision, goals, and expectations effectively across teams.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing required; Masters preferred

  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in critical care or related nursing units
  • Experience in ICU, Cardiac Specialty Unit, and Dialysis preferred

  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS Certification

  • Completion of critical care course and CPI certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Basic computer proficiency; additional languages preferred
