Senior Protection Engineer
About the job Senior Protection Engineer
Overview:
This role can be based in any office or performed fully remotely, offering the opportunity to work with a top-tier team on high-impact utility and industrial projects involving conventional and renewable energy systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced protection and coordination studies for substations and T&D systems
- Develop protection schemes, calculate relay settings, and support NERC compliance
- Conduct arc flash studies, short circuit analysis, and time-current coordination
- Integrate relay protection with SCADA systems
- Serve as a technical lead on projects and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to business development and client relationship management
Tools & Software:
Experience with any of the following is a plus: SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, ASPEN Oneliner, SKM PTW, ETAP, RTDS/RSCAD
Qualifications:
- BSEE required; MSEE (Power focus) preferred
- 10+ years of experience in protection and control
- PE license (or equivalent) required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Consulting background and mentoring experience preferred
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client support
