Requirements:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with a strong track record of scaling production systems.
- Senior or Staff-level capability, with experience taking systems from functional to highly scalable and understanding failure points.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, including caching, queuing, asynchronous processing, database optimization, and service-oriented architecture.
- Expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
- Proficient in PostgreSQL, including query optimization, indexing, and database design.
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, particularly services such as RDS, SQS, Lambda, ECS, and other core AWS tools.
- Mindset centered on system resilience, reliability, and high availability.
- Demonstrated ownership, autonomy, and ability to drive end-to-end solutions.
- Experience scaling high-volume email systems, including deliverability, throttling, and intelligent sending strategies.
- Background in service extraction from monoliths or work with microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as DataDog or New Relic.
- Previous experience in startups or fast-growing environments.
- Fluency in Python or TypeScript.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement solutions for high-throughput systems, including email delivery, reporting, and calendar workflows.
- Build and maintain integrations with platforms such as Salesforce, SMTP, and other third-party APIs.
- Drive initiatives to modularize backend services to enhance system resilience, reduce coupling, and support independent scaling.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in PostgreSQL queries, API response times, and other data-intensive operations.
- Ensure the platform effectively manages increasing volumes of customer data syncs across systems such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and SMTP.
- Scale and continuously improve the emailing system while supporting the ongoing delivery of new features and performance enhancements.
