About the job Engineering Manager (MEAN) | Karachi |PKR Salary
We are hiring an Engineering Manager form Karachi!
About the Company
Hiring for a Edtech firms, an integrated school ERP with built-in SIS and LMS modules.
About the Role:
We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will own the engineering function for EdTech. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering and be responsible for team delivery, engineering operations, and product execution. This is not a process-only role. We need someone who understands software deeply enough to earn the team's respect and make sound decisions, while focusing primarily on people, delivery, and operational excellence.
You will work alongside a senior Technical Lead who owns architecture and code quality. Your job is to make the team productive, accountable, and stable — not to be the smartest engineer in the room.
Responsibilities.
Team Delivery & Execution:
Own sprint planning, execution, and release management for the engineering team
Ensure features, bug fixes, and maintenance work ship on time and at quality
Manage trade-offs between new development, bug fixes, and technical debt
Be the single point of accountability for engineering output
People Management:
Manage a team of ~10 engineers (backend, frontend, mobile, QA)
Run regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and manage performance
Identify flight risks, address retention issues, and build team morale
Own hiring decisions for engineering roles as the team evolves
Build direct relationships across the team — you are their manager, not a coordinator
Engineering Operations:
Own and improve deployment processes, CI/CD, and release workflows
Ensure production stability for a system with 20K+ daily users
Manage incident response, bug triage, and escalation processes
Drive documentation of critical systems, processes, and operational playbooks
Reduce single-person dependencies across the codebase and infrastructure
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with the Product Owner to translate product priorities into engineering plans
Communicate engineering status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to the founder
Coordinate with school operations stakeholders who are the primary users of the platform
Bridge the gap between a non-technical founder and a technical team.
Requirements:
3–7 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 1–2 years managing a team of 5–12 engineers
Experience in a product company or SaaS environment — not purely outsourcing, agencies, or staff augmentation
Hands-on technical background: you have written production code and can credibly evaluate technical decisions, even if you are not coding daily anymore
Proven ability to own delivery end-to-end — from sprint planning through production release
Experience managing a live product with real users, not just internal tools or proof-of-concepts
Strong communication: you can give honest status updates, flag risks early, and have difficult conversations with team members
Preference:
Experience with B2B software, enterprise apps, or ERP/workflow-heavy products
Familiarity with our stack: Angular (frontend), Node.js (backend), MongoDB (database), React Native (mobile apps)
Startup and agile development mindset. Comfortable with ambiguity, willing to do what needs doing, not waiting for a perfectly defined role
Experience in edtech, school management systems, or similar domains is a plus but not required
Other Details:
Experience: 3 to 7 years
Working Days & Timings: Monday to Friday (09 am to 06 pm)
Location: Karachi
