Job Description:
The Application Engineer plays a critical role in delivering company's Complete
Project Confidence to our customers in the controlled-environment agriculture
(CEA) and greenhouse automation industry.
This position supports both customer retention and new project success by
providing technical expertise throughout the entire project life cycle from design
and proposal development to commissioning, customer training, and
post-installation service.
The Application Engineer ensures that the company's climate control, irrigation, and
automation solutions are accurately configured, installed, and optimized to achieve
maximum performance and customer satisfaction. This role serves as a bridge
between engineering, manufacturing, and customer operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review and approve large and custom CAD drawings
2. Assist with solution presentations for large projects
3. Perform startups, commissioning, and customer acceptance tests for critical projects
4. Work with engineering to develop new products
5. Monitor and correct project activities
6. Assist Sales Associates with the lead conversion process by:
a. Providing special project quote support
b. Produce and deliver customer training seminars
c. Create content for Technical Application Notes
7. Assist the Customer Support department with Level 4 support and critical field service calls
8. Assist Manufacturing by dealing with critical UL-related issues
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
- Skills:
1. Strong understanding of greenhouse and grow-room automation systems, including sensors, irrigation, lighting, ventilation, and climate control.
2. Ability to read, interpret, and validate CAD drawings (control panels, wiring diagrams, mechanical layouts) to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
3. Familiar with PLCs, HMIs, communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP).
4. Experience with system commissioning, calibration, and customer acceptance testing.
5. Understanding of UL compliance, panel fabrication, and electrical safety standards.
6. Skilled in troubleshooting automation systems, controllers, and communication networks.
7. Capable of producing and maintaining technical documentation, application notes, and training materials
8. Strong communication and customer service skills.
9. Familiarity with IoT-based or cloud-connected automation systems is a plus. - Personal Qualities: Rigorous, Thorough, Systematic, Attention to details, Team Oriented, Perseverance, Finisher, Organized
