COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Our client, a Karachi-based, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI), seeks to appoint an experienced professional for the following role:
As Settlement Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate daily reconciliation and settlement of transactions and work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain financial integrity and support seamless transaction flows across partner ecosystems.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Daily Transaction Reconciliation - Perform end-to-end reconciliation of transactions across Visa, Mastercard, acquiring/issuing banks, processors, and internal systems to ensure financial accuracy
- Settlement Execution & Monitoring - Manage the daily settlement cycle, executing and tracking fund movements to and from banks, partners, and service providers in line with agreed timelines
- Chargeback & Dispute Resolution - Investigate transaction disputes and chargebacks as per network guidelines and internal SOPs, ensuring documentation and resolution within regulatory timelines
- Bank Statement Matching - Reconcile payment gateway reports and internal ledgers with bank statements and accounting systems to validate fund flows and balances
- Discrepancy Management & Root Cause Analysis - Identify mismatches in transaction data, work with Product and Engineering teams to analyze root causes, and implement corrective measures
- Reporting & Dashboard Maintenance - Maintain and update reconciliation dashboards and prepare periodic reports on settlement health, pending issues, and exceptions
- Cross-Functional Coordination - Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering teams to optimize reconciliation workflows and resolve operational gaps
- Audit Readiness & Documentation - Ensure thorough documentation of all reconciliation and settlement processes, maintaining audit trails and compliance with SBP and card network requirements
Education
- Minimum 16 years of education, preferably, Masters from a renowned and HEC recognized university or institution/equivalent foreign degree holder institution, in any/or combination of the disciplines
Experience
- Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience, preferably in a large national/multinational organization with at least 1-2 years of related functional experience in a similar role at an equivalent position
- Payment Operations Experience - 2+ years of experience in payment settlement and reconciliation within a fintech, digital wallet, bank, or payment aggregator environment
- Technical Proficiency - Strong command of Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and macros), familiarity with reconciliation tools, and understanding of API-based payment integrations

- Analytical Accuracy - Proven ability to identify, trace, and resolve complex financial mismatches with precision and speed
- Process Ownership & SLA Compliance - Self-starter with the ability to manage high-volume reconciliation workflows independently and meet strict operational deadlines
- Cross-Functional Engagement - Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external banking partners
- Regulatory & Risk Awareness - Solid understanding of SBP regulations, card network dispute processes, and operational risk management in a payments context
