Job Purpose
To oversee regulatory functions within the seed sector, ensuring transparent registration, certification, and approval processes. The role involves enforcing plant breeders rights, enhancing institutional capacity, promoting private sector involvement, and upholding national seed quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Exercise oversight over registration, certification, and approval processes
- Supervise and enforce Plant Breeders Rights via PBR Registry
- Ensure transparency in regulatory processes
- Encourage private sector seed testing labs
- Build capacity in relevant departments
- Maintain a seed track and trace system
- Revise evaluation and registration criteria for seed companies
- Ensure quality seed availability per national standards
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Authority
Qualifications
- Qualification: PhD with 15 years of experience, or a Masters degree with 18 years of experience from an HEC-recognized institution, in Agriculture with specialization in one or more of the following: Plant Breeding & Genetics and Seed Sciences & Technology
- Age Limit: Not more than 62 years on the date of applying
Period of Contract/Tenure: 3 years
