TOR/Eligibility Criteria:

Qualification / Work Experience

a) The Chairperson shall be an eminent professional of known integrity, not having less than fifteen years of experience and possesses Ph.D. degree, OR eighteen years of experience and possesses Masters degree recognized by the HEC, in the field of agriculture preferably with specialization in Plant Breeding & Genetics or Seed Science and Technology, Agriculture Policy or Agriculture Economics; and

b) Minimum five years experience in a senior position in the domain of agriculture research, academics, policy making, strategy development or management in a reputable organization related to agriculture.

Age Limit

Not be more than 62 years of age on the date of appointment. On attaining the age of 65 years, the Chairperson shall cease to hold office.

Period of Contract / Tenure

Three years, extendable for a further period of two years.

Job Description

• Advise the Federal Government on all matters related to Seed Sector.
• Organization, functioning and administration of Authority.
• Exercise supervision and control over departments, committees, and other such bodies.
• Supervision of policy formulation and implementation.
• Enforcement of seed laws and regulation.
• Supervision / coordination of research and development activities, in consultation with Federal as well as Provincial Governments and other research institutes.
• Synergize and optimize the seed sector of Pakistan at public as well as private level.
• Regulating the standards of qualities and varieties of seeds and to monitor and regulate inter-provincial trade and transportation of seeds.
• Executes contracts or other legal instruments with national and foreign entities to promote, attract and protect investment in the seed sector.
