Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field in healthcare
- Coding certification (e.g., CCS, CCSP, RHIT, RHIA) from AHIMA or AAPC
- Strong knowledge of ICD10CM/PCS and CPT coding systems, coding guidelines, and regulations
- Develop and implement coding policies, procedures, and best practices that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid regulations, compliance standards, and reimbursement methodologies
Job Description
Supervise and manage the daily operations of the inpatient coding team.
Provide ongoing support, coaching, and direction to team members to ensure high levels of performance and efficiency.
Conduct routine performance reviews to assess strengths and areas for development, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
Establish and maintain coding policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with current industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with the compliance team to ensure all coding activities remain compliant with applicable regulations and standards.
Oversee all aspects of the coding workflow, including accuracy checks, quality assurance, and validation of coded data.
Ensure coding is completed accurately and within designated timeframes to meet organizational goals and deadlines.
Track team productivity and identify areas for operational improvements and increased efficiency.
Remain informed on updates to coding rules, regulations, and industry laws, and provide necessary training and updates to the coding team.
Manage scheduling and staffing to ensure consistent coverage and smooth workflow.
Act as the primary point of contact between the coding team and other departments, such as revenue cycle, clinical documentation improvement, and compliance.
