About the job Senior Buyer
The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing and executing procurement and sourcing activities for engineered components, materials, and services within a discrete manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on procurement leader who actively manages daily purchasing activities while providing functional oversight to a small buying team. The position is critical in ensuring effective supplier management, cost optimization, and uninterrupted supply for precision and made-to-print products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end purchasing and sourcing activities to support production, engineering, and operational requirements
- Serve as a hands-on buyer while providing guidance and support to a purchasing team member
- Create, manage, and maintain blanket purchase orders to support production planning and inventory efficiency
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and commercial terms to achieve cost and service objectives
- Source and procure engineered and made-to-print components based on technical drawings and specifications
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and Quality teams to align procurement with design and production needs
- Develop and maintain strong supplier partnerships to ensure quality, reliability, and continuity of supply
- Track supplier performance and address issues related to cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness
- Support cost-reduction initiatives, supplier consolidation, and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, quality standards, and ethical sourcing requirements
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing, sourcing, or procurement in a senior or supervisory capacity
- Strong background in discrete manufacturing, preferably involving engineered or made-to-print products
- Proven experience managing blanket purchase orders and negotiating commercial terms
- Hands-on procurement expertise with the ability to lead and support a small team
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, technically oriented manufacturing environment
