A leading non-life insurance provider in the Philippines, recognized for its long-standing industry presence and strong financial foundation, is looking for a high-performing Finance Manager to join its senior finance leadership team. This role offers a succession path to the current Controller, who is expected to retire in two years.

Role Overview

The Finance Manager will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the companys financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with industry regulations and IFRS standards, while leading multiple functional teams and collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders.

This role is central to driving the effectiveness of the controllership function and preparing for a seamless leadership transition.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Lead the planning, organization, and control of key finance functions.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, systems, and internal controls to support business goals.
  • Standardize and streamline financial processes for improved efficiency.

Budgeting & Cost Management

  • Supervise the development of annual budgets and management reports.
  • Review and validate assumptions and forecasts to ensure sound financial planning.
  • Monitor budget performance and recommend cost optimization measures.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee general accounting, investment accounting, billing, tax, and regulatory compliance functions.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and regulatory reports.
  • Coordinate with auditors and regulatory bodies to maintain full compliance with industry requirements.

Risk Management & Internal Controls

  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks in coordination with internal audit.
  • Establish and enforce strong internal control systems and risk mitigation frameworks.
  • Ensure full compliance with IFRS 5 and IFRS 17, and lead preparation of relevant statutory reports.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Manage unit heads across finance functions and provide leadership in coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, establish clear work standards, and ensure continuous professional development.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.

Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders across departments to support business operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with auditors, consultants, banks, regulators, and other external parties.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Philippines.
  • 1015 years of progressive leadership experience in finance within the financial services or insurance industry.
  • Strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit processes.
  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements under IFRS 5 and IFRS 17.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive financial transformation and build effective finance teams.
