Job Purpose:
The Finance Business Partner Operations Finance plays a critical role in partnering with manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain teams to drive operational efficiency and cost control. The role focuses on analyzing end-to-end operational costs, supporting P&L performance, and providing strategic insights that support decision-making across the business. Depending on experience, the role will range from analytical support to strategic advisory.
Key Responsibilities (Scope Scales by Level):
Operational Cost Control & Financial Analysis
- Analyze and monitor operational expenses including raw materials, freight, warehousing, utilities, and production overhead.
- Provide variance analysis for P&L components related to manufacturing and logistics activities.
- Track material usage, wastage, and yield, and recommend corrective actions.
Business Partnering
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Plant Operations, and Logistics leaders to support cost-saving initiatives.
- Act as a financial advisor in cross-functional meetings, providing insights into operational performance and improvement opportunities.
- Translate business activities into financial impact and influence decisions through data-driven recommendations.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Support (or lead) annual budget planning and monthly forecasting for operations-related costs.
- Develop and manage rolling forecasts for direct and indirect costs in operations.
- Build what-if scenarios and sensitivity analyses for supply chain changes or market conditions (e.g., fuel costs, supplier pricing).
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Design and maintain dashboards for tracking key operational KPIs (e.g., cost per unit, throughput, OEE).
- Prepare financial reports and present trends, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
- Drive standardization and automation of reporting processes.
Project & Strategic Support
- Evaluate investment proposals for manufacturing improvements, equipment upgrades, or supply chain optimization.
- Lead financial workstreams for projects such as cost transformation, footprint optimization, or vendor negotiations.
- Coordinate internal cost audits and root cause analyses.
Qualifications & Experience (Scaled by Level):
Common Requirements (All Levels):
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Experience working in or supporting operations (manufacturing/logistics/supply chain).
Analyst Level:
- 1-3 years of experience in FP&A, cost analysis, or operations finance.
- Familiarity with material costing, KPI tracking, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Manager Level:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in supply chain finance or manufacturing cost control.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead cost reviews.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
Senior Manager Level:
- 10+ years of experience with leadership in operations finance.
- Strategic mindset with experience advising senior stakeholders and managing large-scale cost optimization initiatives.
- Strong leadership, business acumen, and team management experience.
