Role Summary:
The Associate General Counsel Supply Chain will serve as a key legal partner to the Supply Chain leadership team, providing strategic counsel on operational risk management, regulatory compliance, and transactional matters. This leadership role ensures the legal infrastructure supports safe, compliant, and efficient operations across multiple sites nationwide, including plants, distribution centers, and warehouse facilities. This role will also oversee legal aspects of special projects including greenfield plant development, environmental sustainability programs, and cross-functional corporate initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Supply Chain function, proactively identifying legal risks and providing strategic guidance.
- Ensure enterprise-wide legal compliance across supply chain operationscovering labor laws, quality and safety standards, environmental laws, real estate, food regulations, and property matters.
- Oversee and manage litigation and regulatory enforcement related to the supply chain; work with external counsel while ensuring cost control.
- Draft, negotiate, and review contracts related to procurement, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, and related activities.
- Guide organizational restructuring activities through labor law compliance and risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide regulatory advisory on environmental compliance, food labeling and packaging, water stewardship, waste management, and permits.
- Deliver legal and compliance training to internal stakeholders to promote awareness and adherence to evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Develop internal governance processes, frameworks, and simplified contracting procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enable operational agility while safeguarding legal interests.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Lawyer (LLB); Masters Degree in Law (LLM) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Extensive background in contract law, litigation management, regulatory compliance, labor law, and supply chain operations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact confidently with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while exercising sound judgment on when to escalate.
- Proactive, strategic, and highly organizedable to manage multiple complex legal matters concurrently.
- Proven experience in leading or supporting regulatory inspections, compliance audits, or licensing processes.
- Adept in translating legal concepts into business-appropriate language and risk-mitigation strategies.
