Role Overview
As the Senior Category Manager, you will lead the strategic development, execution, and performance management of the Health & Beauty category across online and offline (O+O) channels. Your goal will be to ensure the category remains competitive, innovative, and aligned with consumer trends, while driving revenue, market share, profit margins, and supplier income growth.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 57 years in category management, merchandising, or related roles within retail or FMCG industries. Prior experience with leading FMCG companies and/or within the beauty and personal care sector is a must.
- Strong understanding of business drivers and retail/category economics; able to manage trade-offs between growth, profitability, and brand value.
- Proficiency in analyzing market trends, sales data, and customer insights to develop actionable category strategies.
- Proven experience in managing categories across physical retail and e-commerce channels, with a deep understanding of digital merchandising.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to influence internal teams and external partners.
Roles and Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the long-term strategic plan for the Health & Beauty category across O+O platforms.
- Identify growth opportunities, emerging trends, and white space within the category to maintain competitiveness.
- Build and implement category roadmaps, assortment strategies, pricing, and promotional frameworks.
Performance Management
- Drive achievement of sales, margin, and income targets through effective category management and optimization.
- Monitor KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews with internal stakeholders and brand partners.
- Leverage data and consumer insights to continuously improve category performance.
Supplier & Brand Management
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers and brand partners, negotiating favorable terms and joint business plans.
- Lead annual line reviews, product launches, and promotional planning in collaboration with vendors.
- Ensure brand mix and product assortment reflect consumer demand and market dynamics.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, digital, and supply chain teams to align on go-to-market strategies and campaign execution.
- Partner with eCommerce and in-store merchandising teams to ensure consistent and effective execution across platforms.
- Support inventory planning and replenishment processes to ensure availability and minimize stockouts or overstock.
Innovation & Consumer Focus
- Stay ahead of industry trends, beauty innovations, and customer preferences to shape the category vision.
- Drive innovation through testing of new formats, exclusive products, or differentiated brand experiences.
