Job Description

The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resources activities to support the company and its operational goals. This role ensures compliance with labor laws, manages employee and labor relations, and develops HR programs that support employee engagement, talent growth, and a positive work environment. The HR Manager works closely with business leaders, COO, and staff to ensure HR policies and practices align with institutional values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and organizational development.
  • Act as the main contact for labor union matters, including collective bargaining agreements and grievance handling.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing, proper administration of salary grades, and compliance with government-mandated benefits.
  • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies in line with labor laws and institutional needs.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and professional work culture that supports employee engagement and academic excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations, audits, and required reports.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience managing core HR functions.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading or managing people.
  • Experience handling labor unions, CBAs, or working in a unionized environment.
  • Strong background in employee and labor relations.
  • Solid knowledge of labor laws, government-mandated benefits, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in payroll processing and salary administration.
  • Ability to develop and implement HR policies and programs.
  • Experience in talent management, workforce planning, and organizational development.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, logistics, transportation, experience in handling 1000+ FTEs or academic setting is preferred, but corporate HR professionals with relevant expertise are welcome.
