Production Supervisor

 Job Description:

A Frozen Food Production Supervisor oversees the daily operations of food manufacturing lines—such as IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) processing or packaging—to ensure they run safely, efficiently, and meet strict quality standards. This role bridges the gap between management and the production floor by translating output goals into actionable tasks for a diverse team of workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily production schedules to meet targets, coordinate staff assignments, and monitor equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous food safety protocols (HACCP, SQF, GMP) and workplace safety standards (OSHA) to maintain an injury-free environment.
  • Quality Control: Inspect raw materials and finished products against specifications, ensuring proper, labeling, and storage.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor production team; handle performance reviews, conflict resolution, and attendance tracking.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and lead "Lean Manufacturing" or "Kaizen" projects to reduce waste and improve process efficiency.
  • Documentation: Complete daily production reports, sanitation logs, and inventory records accurately for management review.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree (often in STEM or Food Science) is frequently preferred, though a High School Diploma with 5+ years of extensive experience may be accepted.
  • Experience: Typically requires 2–4 years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of HACCP, GMP, SQF, and USDA/FDA regulations.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MES software e.g SAP for tracking production and inventory data.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand/walk for long shifts (often 8–12 hours) in a cold-temperature environment and lift 30–50 lbs.

Work Environment

Supervisors primarily work on the production floor, which can be noisy and fast-paced. In frozen food facilities, you will be regularly exposed to extreme cold and moving mechanical parts. Flexibility to work various shifts—including nights, weekends, and holidays—is often essential due to continuous production cycles.
