Ceramics Research and Development Manager
Job Description:
Main Function:
R&D Advisors are responsible for research, planning, and implementing new programs and protocols in a company or organization and overseeing the development of new products. R&D advisors are also responsible for overseeing the entire development process of new products and programs within an organization, from the initial planning phase to implementation or production.
Responsibilities:
- Initiates and leads R&D projects defines objectives and work plans, and conducts research that advances scientific knowledge for the improvement of breakthrough materials for advanced smelting applications.
- Provides detailed knowledge of materials chemistry, synthesis, microstructure development, and failure mechanisms to develop a fundamental understanding of materials performance
- Solves problems to root cause, seeks and identifies opportunities for improvements, and implements solutions required to improve materials and materials production processes
- Conducts research in the laboratory, pilot, and commercial-scale environments
- Manages scale-up of materials production facilities
- Fosters collaborative relationships within and between workgroups, including external workgroups and stakeholders
- Provides functional guidance and mentoring to technicians and other engineers/scientists
- Interfaces with external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers in conjunction to develop scope, schedule, and cost to meet objectives of R&D projects
- Diligently communicates progress and results through written technical reports, presentations, patents, and publications
Skills and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering or Ceramics Engineering with 5 years of experience in materials synthesis or ceramics processing, characterization, production, and related areas
- 3 years in leading R&D teams
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with project management.
- Ability to translate design concepts.
