ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Specialist to join a large-scale international project focused on enterprise data quality, compliance, and governance strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern and collaborative environment where data plays a central role in business decision-making and digital transformation initiatives.

You will be responsible for defining and implementing governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, and supporting regulatory compliance across multiple business domains. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence strategic initiatives, and contribute to the evolution of enterprise-wide data management practices.

The role is based at Lionesa Business Hub in Porto, with a hybrid working model. During the first month, full onsite presence is required for onboarding and integration purposes, followed by a 3 days/week office model.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will join an organization investing heavily in data governance modernization, cloud transformation, and data quality initiatives. The environment includes enterprise-scale data platforms, governance frameworks, and cloud-based infrastructures supporting critical business operations.

The project involves working closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, IT teams, and senior stakeholders to implement governance standards, improve data lifecycle management, and ensure compliance with international regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.

Main technologies and frameworks include:

  • Collibra
  • AWS Cloud Services
  • Informatica
  • ITIL v4
  • PMP-based project methodologies
  • Metadata repositories and data catalog solutions

English is the primary language used in meetings and documentation. Candidates must have at least B2 English level.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related areas
  • At least 2 years of experience in leadership or coordination roles
  • Strong experience designing and implementing Data Governance frameworks and policies
  • Hands-on experience with Collibra, Informatica, or similar governance platforms
  • Experience working with AWS Cloud environments and enterprise data infrastructures
  • Strong understanding of data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data stewardship concepts
  • Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and data privacy compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting data audits and monitoring governance compliance
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across different business areas
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • B2 level in spoken and written English

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar area
  • Certifications such as ITIL v4, PMP, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Previous experience supporting enterprise cloud migration or data transformation initiatives
  • Experience facilitating governance training and awareness sessions
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
  • Strong mentoring and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working within multinational environments
