About the job Senior Product Owner (Jira/Confluence/Agile) – Full Remote Portugal or Spain
**Senior Product Owner (Jira/Confluence/Agile) – Full Remote Portugal or Spain**
**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
A senior-level Product Owner role with genuine end-to-end ownership — not a backlog administrator, not a proxy between business and dev. You'll be the person who shapes what gets built, challenges requirements that don't hold up, and keeps a cross-functional team of developers, data scientists, QA, and UX aligned and moving. If you've spent years mastering the craft of product ownership in complex digital environments and you're looking for a role where your decisions actually drive the product, this one is worth your attention.
**PROJECT & CONTEXT**
You'll embed within a cross-functional delivery team working on a digital product in a data-rich, stakeholder-intensive environment. Working closely with a senior Product Manager, you'll own the day-to-day product backlog, drive sprint ceremonies, and bridge business requirements with technical delivery — across frontend, backend, and data workstreams. The role spans discovery through release, including UAT, defect triage, and release readiness sign-off. Collaboration spans client managers, business stakeholders, UX, engineering, Data Science, QA, and leadership.
**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Experience**
- **Senior-level Product Owner experience** in a Scrum/Agile environment — you've owned backlogs, run ceremonies, and made prioritisation calls under pressure
- **Fluent English** — written and spoken, for stakeholder communication and documentation
**Product Ownership & Agile**
- Own and prioritise the **product backlog** end-to-end, from refinement through sprint planning to showcase
- Write and refine **user stories** with clear, testable acceptance criteria
- Produce **functional specification documents** aligned with business and technical requirements
- Facilitate **backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, and product showcases**
- Make confident **day-to-day prioritisation decisions** independently, escalating only where appropriate
**Stakeholder Management**
- Engage effectively with a broad stakeholder mix: client managers, business owners, developers, Data Scientists, QA, UX, and leadership
- **Constructively challenge requirements** — you ask the uncomfortable questions before sprint starts, not after
- Support the senior Product Manager in shaping and communicating the **product roadmap** and delivery planning
**Testing & Quality**
- Lead **UAT planning** and story sign-off
- Drive **defect triage and root cause analysis** during release cycles
- Own **release readiness assessments** before production deployments
**Tools**
- Hands-on proficiency with **Jira, Confluence, and Miro**
**NICE TO HAVE**
- Technical fluency in **APIs, frontend/backend architecture, and data flows** — you don't need to code, but you need to hold your own in technical conversations
- Experience running **product discovery sessions** and supporting UX/Design in wireframe creation
- Ability to identify usability issues and track **product analytics** to surface improvement opportunities
- Familiarity with **retail domain concepts**: planograms, shelf space optimisation, assortment planning, or Customer Decision Trees (CDT)
- Exposure to **data science or ML-driven product features** in a product ownership context
