About the job Business Development Representative (BDR) Trainee - Portugal Full Remote
Wer're hiring a BDR Trainee to open door for our business team.
Please note that this is a remote position but it requires the candidate to be based in Portugal.
HumanIT is a Portuguese IT recruitment, nearshore software services, and project delivery company. We place engineering talent and build nearshore teams for clients across Europe and North America. As we grow, we need someone dedicated to starting the conversations that turn into partnerships.
This is an entry-level role. We don't expect you to arrive knowing how to do this, we expect you to arrive wanting to learn it fast. You'll be trained, coached, and given a clear playbook. What you bring is curiosity, discipline, and the ability to write and speak like a human.
What you'll actually do:
Your mission is simple to describe and hard to do well: book qualified meetings with the right people.
- Research target companies and identify the right people to approach
- Run outbound outreach across email, LinkedIn, and phone
- Write personalised messages - not templates blasted at hundreds of people
- Handle the back-and-forth: reply to objections, build interest, secure the meeting
- Qualify the person before booking (this is the hard part - see below)
- Book the meeting into our team's calendar and hand it over with full context
- Follow up to confirm attendance and keep no-shows low
- Keep our CRM clean and up to date
Important: you book the meeting - our senior team runs it. You are not expected to pitch our services in depth or close deals. Your job is to open the door with the right person.
What we're looking for:
- Excellent written and spoken English. You'll be talking to decision-makers across markets, and your messages represent our brand
- Strong written communication - you can be clear, specific, and human in an email
- Curiosity about tech. You don't need a technical background, but you'll need to learn who's who in an engineering organisation and what they care about
- Resilience. Outbound means hearing "no" often. The people who succeed here are the ones who keep going and keep improving
- Discipline with follow-up. Most meetings are won in the follow-up, not the first message
- Comfortable picking up the phone
- Portuguese fluency is a plus
You do not need: previous sales experience or a technical background. If you have it, great! We're hiring for attitude and aptitude.
What you'll get:
- Structured onboarding and hands-on coaching —-you won't be dropped in the deep end with a list and a phone
- A clear playbook: our ICP, our case studies, proven messaging, and real training on how outbound actually works
- Training on modern outbound tooling - CRM, sales engagement and prospecting platforms, LinkedIn, and AI tools we use every day to research and personalise at scale
- Direct exposure to the tech market and to senior decision-makers
- Real ownership of your results from early on
Selection Process:
Phase 1: 1-minute Video (Pitch & Introduction).
Phase 2: Practical Exercise (Business Development & Prospecting Challenge).
Phase 3: Careers Team Interview.
Phase 4: Final Interview with the Head of Business.
Compensation: Approximately €16,800–€19,600 net per year, plus performance-based incentives.
