Job Openings Power BI + SQL Data Analyst (Junior/Mid-Level) - Hybrid Lisbon (2 Days/Week)

About the job Power BI + SQL Data Analyst (Junior/Mid-Level) - Hybrid Lisbon (2 Days/Week)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a major transformation initiative at a leading Portuguese banking institution as a Junior to Mid-Level Data Analyst and launch or advance your career in the banking sector. This position is specifically designed for early-career professionals (1-3 years experience) or those transitioning into data analysis, offering the chance to learn and grow within a comprehensive organizational restructuring project that will reshape how the bank works with data and business intelligence.

Working in a hybrid model (2 days on-site in Lisbon), you'll gain hands-on experience with banking data, work directly with business stakeholders, and develop both your technical and soft skills under the guidance of more senior team members.

The role is perfect for junior analysts who are strong in Power BI and SQL fundamentals and, importantly, have good communication skills. You don't need to be a senior expert - what matters most is your ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively with business users, understand their needs, and translate those into clear reports and dashboards. This is an opportunity to build your career foundation in a stable, traditional industry undergoing digital transformation.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be contributing to a large-scale organizational transformation project at a Portuguese banking institution, working to completely restructure how data flows, is analyzed, and is presented across different business units. As a junior team member, you'll be assigned manageable tasks with appropriate support while gradually taking on more complex responsibilities as you develop your skills.

Your primary responsibilities center on Power BI development and SQL-based data analysis at an appropriate junior/mid level. You'll create reports and dashboards following established templates and standards, write SQL queries to extract data from banking systems (with support from senior team members when needed), and ensure your work is accurate and meets business requirements. The banking context provides excellent learning opportunities around data governance, security, and regulatory compliance.

A critical aspect of this role - and why soft skills are so important - is stakeholder communication. You'll participate in requirements gathering sessions with business users, learning how to ask the right questions and understand what they need. You'll present your reports and findings in clear, accessible language to non-technical stakeholders, and iteratively improve your work based on feedback. Don't worry if you're early in your career - the team understands you're developing these skills and will support your growth.

The technical environment centers on Microsoft's Business Intelligence stack with Power BI as the primary visualization tool and SQL for data querying. You'll work with banking data including transactions, customer information, and operational metrics - providing excellent exposure to real-world business intelligence in a professional setting. The complexity will be appropriate to your experience level, with more challenging work introduced as you develop.
