Job Openings AI Engineer - Hybrid Lisbon (Flexible 5-20% On-Site)

About the job AI Engineer - Hybrid Lisbon (Flexible 5-20% On-Site)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a leading European logistics technology company powering the delivery of 840+ million parcels annually across 41 countries and over 1,600 locations. This role offers the unique opportunity to work on AI-driven solutions that directly impact millions of daily operations, from intelligent parcel routing to customer-facing mobile applications. As an AI Engineer, you'll bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical business applications, developing proof-of-concepts that evolve into production-grade AI products. Working in a flexible hybrid model (starting 20% on-site, reducing to as low as 5% over time), you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex logistics challenges using large language models, machine learning, and deep learning techniques. This is a chance to shape the future of logistics technology while working with modern AI frameworks and cloud platforms.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be responsible for the complete AI solution lifecycle—from identifying business opportunities to deploying scalable minimum viable products (MVPs). The role focuses heavily on developing proof-of-concepts using LLMs (like GPT) and advanced machine learning techniques to demonstrate feasibility and business impact. Working closely with stakeholders, software engineers, and data scientists, you'll evaluate PoC performance considering accuracy, scalability, and computational efficiency, then translate successful concepts into production systems. The position involves optimizing AI models for real-world logistics scenarios, conducting thorough testing and validation, and integrating AI capabilities into existing enterprise systems. You'll also provide technical guidance to junior AI engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and driving innovation through industry best practices and emerging technologies.
