QA Engineer (OTT Streaming) - Full Remote Portugal

You'll be part of the team behind Wilmaa, a pioneer in WebTV offering digital television across all devices — from smartphones and tablets to desktops and large screens — serving around 300,000 unique monthly users. This isn't a traditional QA role where you simply execute tests; you'll own and improve quality across a large-scale OTT streaming platform, acting as the key quality bridge between product and development with end-to-end responsibility for testing, automation, release validation, and production quality feedback. With full remote flexibility from Portugal and exposure to complex, real-world streaming platforms, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership and make visible impact.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be embedded directly in a development team as the quality owner for a specific platform, ensuring features behave exactly as expected before and after production. Your responsibilities span the entire quality lifecycle: challenging requirements during Epic and Story refinements, hands-on feature testing in development environments, release gatekeeping on staging with clear GO/NO-GO recommendations, designing and maintaining automated tests using Maestro framework for Android and Apple apps, and acting as the first QA triage point for production issues. You'll maintain test cases in Testwil, monitor production health using analytics and exploratory testing, and keep bug backlogs clean and actionable. Autonomy and trust are central — you'll make quality decisions independently while collaborating closely with developers, Product Owners, and QA leadership in a pragmatic, fast-feedback environment aligned with Swiss working hours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Proven experience in QA roles with end-to-end responsibility for quality
• Strong hands-on testing mindset combined with automation ownership
• Ability to work autonomously and make quality decisions independently
• Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments embedded within development teams
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with developers and Product Owners
• Ability to challenge unclear requirements and identify edge cases early
• Experience validating release scope, performing smoke tests, and providing release recommendations
• Capability to analyze production issues and triage whether they are bugs, improvements, or expected behavior
• Experience creating and maintaining test cases and keeping bug backlogs organized
• Proactive mindset to detect issues after release and raise them early
• Availability to work during Swiss working hours
• Good English proficiency (written and spoken)

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Experience with test automation frameworks, particularly Maestro for mobile apps (Android/iOS)
• Knowledge of OTT streaming platforms or video/media technologies
• Experience testing across multiple platforms: mobile, TV, web, and backend systems
• Familiarity with analytics tools and production monitoring
• German language skills
• Background in telecommunications or media streaming industries
• Experience with test management tools like Testwil or similar platforms
• Understanding of exploratory testing techniques and user flow validation

Languages Required: English (good proficiency), German (a plus)

Work Model: Full Remote from Portugal — must be available during Swiss working hours
