Senior Integrations Architect (Java/Kafka) - Remote Portugal

Join a dynamic technology consultancy as a Senior Integrations Architect leading strategic technology evolution initiatives. This role offers you the opportunity to design and implement advanced integration solutions that transform business objectives into scalable, secure architectures. You'll be instrumental in driving the modernization of legacy systems, crafting event-driven architectures, and providing technical leadership across cross-functional teams while shaping the architectural vision for complex enterprise integrations.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll lead the architectural design and implementation of sophisticated integration solutions for enterprise clients, focusing on transitioning legacy systems to modern, event-driven and API-based architectures. The role involves designing integration microservices using Java Spring Boot, implementing event streaming with Kafka, and establishing architectural patterns and governance frameworks. You'll work closely with development teams, providing technical guidance and resolving complex challenges in distributed systems. As a subject matter expert, you'll stay at the forefront of integration technologies, proposing innovative solutions and ensuring architectures are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards. This position requires strong stakeholder engagement, translating business requirements into technical solutions while maintaining high performance and reliability standards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Proven Integration Architect experience designing and implementing complex enterprise integration solutions
• Integration microservices expertise: Hands-on experience designing, building, and managing integration microservices architectures
• Java Spring Boot proficiency: Practical experience working with or supporting teams building microservices using Java Spring Boot framework
• Event-driven architecture: Experience implementing and architecting solutions using Apache Kafka in integration landscapes
• Legacy modernization: Proven track record redesigning and replacing legacy integrations with modern solutions
• Distributed systems expertise: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to debug complex distributed systems
• Technical leadership: Ability to guide development teams, establish architectural patterns, and serve as subject matter expert
• Architecture documentation: Experience designing and documenting scalable, secure architectures aligned with business goals and enterprise standards
• Language requirement: Fluent English (mandatory for stakeholder engagement and technical leadership)

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Experience with API management platforms and API-first design approaches
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) for integration solutions
• Familiarity with additional integration patterns and enterprise service bus (ESB) technologies
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Background in DevOps practices and CI/CD for integration solutions
• Certifications in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman)
