Cloud Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes) - Full Remote Portugal

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a fast-growing, engineering-driven software company known for building high-performance systems used by clients worldwide. They operate with a flat, collaborative culture where engineers work directly alongside leadership, and technical ownership is genuinely valued over hierarchy. This is a chance to join a team that treats infrastructure as a craft, not just a checklist, and where mentoring and continuous learning are part of the day-to-day.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll take ownership of the full lifecycle of a modern AWS cloud environment, working closely with development teams and senior leadership to embed DevOps best practices across the organization. The role blends hands-on infrastructure automation (IaC and CI/CD pipelines) with observability and root-cause analysis work, helping the broader team learn from incidents and continuously improve reliability, security, and cost-efficiency. Occasional national/international travel may be required (estimated 0-15%, depending on client and project needs).

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • Solid hands-on experience with AWS (networking, account structure, and infrastructure management)
  • Proficiency with Terraform/Terragrunt and Ansible for Infrastructure as Code
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm Charts
  • CI/CD pipeline experience via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
  • Scripting ability in Bash and Python or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong Unix/Linux systems troubleshooting skills
  • English proficiency at B2 (Upper Intermediate) or above, with ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to varied stakeholders
  • Mid-Senior to Senior level experience
  • Based in Portugal

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Datadog, or CloudWatch
  • Experience collaborating directly with leadership or client stakeholders on infrastructure strategy
  • A collaborative, low-ego working style suited to a "politics-free," self-organized environment
  • Interest in mentoring and knowledge-sharing within engineering teams

Compensation: €2,500 – €3,100/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
