Senior Data Engineer (Databricks) - Remote Portugal

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a dynamic technology consultancy working with an innovative client in the entertainment and media space. We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to build robust data infrastructure supporting Business Intelligence, Data Science, and analytics initiatives. This role offers you the opportunity to design impactful data products and APIs that integrate seamlessly across systems, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll architect and maintain data pipelines that power business decisions and studio operations. The role focuses on building scalable data models using Azure Data Factory and Databricks, handling complex ETL/ELT workflows that transform raw data into actionable insights. You'll design APIs and data products to integrate data throughout organizational systems, monitor pipeline health, and ensure data quality. Working closely with business partners, developers, and leadership, you'll translate requirements into technical solutions while coordinating cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Proven Data Engineering experience in fast-paced production environments
• Expert-level SQL proficiency with SQL and SQL-like query languages
• Deep Python expertise with experience organizing and structuring Python-based data projects
• Azure Data Factory and Databricks mastery: Vast hands-on experience building data solutions
• ETL/ELT expertise designing and implementing data transformation processes
• Cloud platform knowledge: Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS and their data services
• Data modeling expertise in Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault methodologies
• Language requirement: Fluent English (mandatory)

• Automated testing frameworks for data projects (unit and integration testing)
• Business Intelligence and Business Analyst experience
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Snowflake data warehouse platform experience
• Data governance frameworks and best practices

• CI/CD automation using GitLab
• Data platform observability and monitoring integration
• Strong communication skills for technical and business audiences across different organizational levels
