Senior Full-Stack Engineer (NestJS/React Native) - Full Remote Portugal

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to join a team building a new greenfield platform within a large enterprise environment. This is an opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end technical delivery, designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.

You will work in a senior engineering role where autonomy, technical leadership, and collaboration are key. The position is ideal for an experienced developer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, contributing to architecture decisions, and working across backend and mobile environments.

The role is fully remote in Portugal, requiring strong communication skills in English (minimum B2 level) and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will join a product development team responsible for creating and evolving a modern digital platform. The project requires strong backend expertise, with the majority of your time focused on building robust services using Node.js (TypeScript) and NestJS.

You will collaborate with teams working across different technology stacks, including Kotlin and Spring Boot, helping align architecture, infrastructure, and technical approaches. The role also includes frontend/mobile integration work using React Native and Expo, allowing you to contribute to complete feature delivery.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Senior-level experience as a Full-Stack Engineer, with proven ability to independently drive technical decisions, architecture discussions, and software delivery.
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS, including production experience building scalable APIs and backend services.
• Solid experience designing and optimizing relational databases using PostgreSQL, including data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Redis for caching strategies, session management, and performance optimization.
• Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Docker Compose.
• Practical experience deploying and managing cloud-based services using AWS ECS and related AWS infrastructure services.
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, clean code practices, and maintainable system design.
• Experience developing mobile applications or integrations using React Native and Expo SDK.
• Experience implementing authentication and authorization solutions using Auth0 or similar enterprise identity platforms.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing strategies, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing across backend and mobile applications.
• Professional working proficiency in English (B2 level or higher).

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Previous experience working in large enterprise ecosystems with multiple engineering teams and technology stacks.
• Experience collaborating with teams using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment processes, and infrastructure automation practices.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and scalable distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologies, with experience working in self-organized engineering teams.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining strong engineering standards.
• Exposure to international projects and distributed team collaboration.
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a proactive mindset focused on teamwork and continuous learning.

Compensation: €2,200 – €2,700/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
